My prices are based on breed, temperament and coat condition of each individual dog. Therefore, when ringing for a quote, please give as much information as possible to ensure an accurate price can be given. A final price will be discussed upon seeing the dog in person, and will only increase if severe matting is uncovered, fleas are found, or the dog is left for a long period of time after their collection time.
Short Bark and Sides reserves the right to refuse any aggressive dog for the safety of both the groomer and the client. On occasion, a muzzle may be used where possible. However the service may be stopped or refused if the dog becomes stressed. In line with the Dangerous Dogs Act, the owner of the dog should understand that they will be held liable for all bites/injuries caused by their dog.
Missed, Cancelled or Late Appointments
Missed appointments will incur a minimum charge of 25% of the standard grooming charge, which will be due before the dog can be rebooked in. Repeated missed appointments will result in a refusal of service altogether.
Clients that are over 15 minutes late will be considered as a missed appointment and may have to rebook. Please make sure you let me know if you are going to be late, so I can assess whether or not I will still have time to groom your dog.
A 24-hour cancellation notice is required for all appointments. If I do not receive adequate notice, a missed appointment fee will be applied.
A collection time will be arranged upon dropping off your dog. As I only groom one dog at a time, this must be followed as I have limited holding areas. If you know you are going to be late for collection, please call immediately to let me know so I can make necessary changes. Whilst Short Bark and Sides does allow reasonable leeway for traffic and unforeseen circumstances, dogs left longer than 30 minutes after their collection time will incur a boarding fee of £5 per 15 minutes.
In conjunction with the Animal Welfare Act 2006, Short Bark and Sides will spend no longer than 15 minutes de-matting you dog. Constant brushing/straining of the coat can cause stress or trauma to the dog by doing so. Excessive matting will incur a minimum charge of £10 per 15 minutes.
If you suspect your dog may have fleas, please notify me before your appointment so I can assess my day. I am happy to accept dogs with fleas and they will be bathed twice in a special flea shampoo. However, my salon will then need disinfecting before the next customer arrives. Therefore, a fee of £10 will be added and in extreme cases (where I have to cancel my next appointment) a £20 charge may be added. Collection and drop-off will be refused for a dog found to have fleas.
The owner consents to the use of their dogs photo to be taken by Short Bark and Sides for potential advertising on their website and printed materials. These will be used by Short Bark and Sides only. Please let me know if you do not wish for a photo to be taken.
In accordance with the Animal Welfare Act 2006, Short Bark and Sides will do whatever is appropriate for the well being of all dogs in our care. If the service of a vet is required, the owner will be contacted immediately for authorisation. In the event that the owner cannot be reached, Short Bark and Sides has permission to authorise treatment themselves. Short Bark and Sides is not liable for any pre-existing conditions or problems found during grooming, and will not pay out for medical treatment incurred due to such conditions. Short Bark and Sides is not a Veterinary Practice, therefore any advice given should only be taken as such.
